Computed Tomography

A CT scan is a complex x-ray procedure that uses the help of a computer to produce a detailed picture of a cross section of the body. As technology continues to improve, CT scans get even more precise with the imaging. BARC has one of the premier computed tomography scanners found in veterinary medicine in private practice. This is a 64 Slice CT scanner that can acquire these images with a high speed and accuracy. Because it is noninvasive and has high contrast resolution, it has replaced some radiographic procedures using contrast media. This is a really good idea if we need to better understand 3-dimensional structures for surgical or radiation therapy planning.
